To me the political in art is the conscious position an artwork takes within or towards a context. This does not necessarily mean that the piece of art transports a political message in the literal sense, but that its creation has a social impact.

Therefore, the position of the artist can also be to create an aesthetic as it presents the public or a selected audience intentionally with a stimulus.

My grasp of the term ‘political’ has taken shape throughout the contextual enquiry and
owes a big part of its conception to the workshop ‘Contructing Resilience’ with Ehud Darash in November 2010 at the HZT Berlin.
